We had the rare opportunity to interview the exalted designer Cecilia Pozzi who was recently announced as the Designer of the Day by the A' Design Award and Competition. Cecilia Pozzi is the creator of iconic designs such as Being. We got exclusive answers to our questions about Cecilia Pozzi designs and design philosophy.
Cecilia Pozzi, how did you become a designer?
Cecilia Pozzi: I became a designer because I love imagining and dreaming about everything that can be created. I think I was destined to become a designer. I worked for the architect Simone Micheli's studio. I am a young designer, my studio is still creating, I hope I can do it soon...

Cecilia Pozzi : There are many. My source of inspiration are the masters of design like: Achille Castiglioni, Cesare Leonardi, Vico Magistretti, Angelo Mangiarotti, Alessandro Mendini, Ettore Sottsass, Zaha Hadid, Le Corbusier...

Cecilia Pozzi, would you tell us a bit about your lifestyle and culture?
Cecilia Pozzi: Now I'm in Italy. At the moment I would like to make the prototype of the lamp being, in order to be able to produce it. I think every city can give us a different stimulus. At the moment my favorite city is New York, but I always change my mind. I think culture greatly influences the type of design...
Cecilia Pozzi, would you tell us more about your work culture and business philosophy?
Cecilia Pozzi: I think it's easy to work with me, working alone or in a team. My ideal work partner must know how to listen and our relationship must be of mutual esteem. I believe that the characteristics that a good designer should have are: imagination, creativity, patience, enthusiasm, and humility. In the people who work with me, I'm looking for a "factory of ideas"...
Cecilia Pozzi, what are your philanthropic contributions to society as a designer, artist, and architect?
Cecilia Pozzi: I haven't had the chance to work for the community yet but I would like to try and do pro bono jobs...

Cecilia Pozzi, what positive experiences you had when you attend the A’ Design Award?
Cecilia Pozzi: There are many benefits of participating to design competitions such as the A' Design Award. One of the most important for me is to test yourself as a designer. This competition gives you the opportunity to make known your design and also your professional figure. Competitions can contribute a lot to the realization of their dreams. And I think they are important and relevant as professional growth. I'm so happy to have participated in this competition and I hope I can win another one...
Cecilia Pozzi, can you tell us more about your company/design studio?
Cecilia Pozzi: I don't have a studio yet, I'm a young designer, but I hope I can open it soon...

Cecilia Pozzi, what is "design" for you?
Cecilia Pozzi: When I think about good design, I think about functionality and the ability for someone who has never seen the finished item before to ascertain the information he or she needs quickly. Great design adds beauty and style to that functionality. Having an outdated look or one that doesn't match what you're trying to make can definitely hurt the end result, but having poor functionality, especially in an age where we have at least 2-3 other options for a service, can destroy a design...
