Today's featured designer is Harun Ayaydın. Harun Ayaydın is the creator of iconic designs such as Capsular, Draco and Bug.

We had the rare opportunity to interview the exalted designer Harun Ayaydın who was recently announced as the Designer of the Day by the A' Design Award and Competition. Harun Ayaydın is the creator of iconic designs such as Capsular, Draco and Bug. We got exclusive answers to our questions about Harun Ayaydın designs and design philosophy.

Harun Ayaydın, how did you become a designer?
Harun Ayaydın : I like the ability to realize all ideas in the real life and it gives me an ultimate satisfaction to create new products, places and establish new buildings. This was the main idea of becoming a designer. I think I will leave many designs behind myself when I pass away. In the university, I have completed restoration, interior architecture and architecture degrees respectively. Now I still continue to my Masters degree in Architecture in İstanbul....

Harun Ayaydın, what are your priorities, technique and style when designing?
Harun Ayaydın : When a design idea pops in my mind, firstly I conduct a deep research. Then I evaluate the uniqueness of this idea and change it many times. But the most important thing is that I try to use golden proportion in all my design works, I think this is substantial....

Harun Ayaydın, which emotions do you feel when designing?
Harun Ayaydın : Actually all parts of the design process has its beauty in itself however, I think the most exciting part is when you catch a new idea in your mind....

Harun Ayaydın, what particular aspects of your background shaped you as a designer?
Harun Ayaydın : Of course there are architectures as role models for me. First places belong to Sinan the Architect and Leonardo Da Vinci. But the most important person in my career who helped and developed me was Master. Arch. Hüseyin Başçetinçelik....

Harun Ayaydın, what is your growth path? what are your future plans? what is your dream design project?
Harun Ayaydın : I would like to spread my design works and also my name to the whole world. Actually I have to get more experienced regarding the competitions and perform much more amount of work....

Harun Ayaydın : At the moment I’m at the beginning of this road, so I can only advice everyone to work hard....

Harun Ayaydın, you are truly successful as a designer, what do you suggest to fellow designers, artists and architects?
Harun Ayaydın : Doing everything you do with love and passion....

Harun Ayaydın, what is your day to day look like?
Harun Ayaydın : I get up early in the morning and go to work and draw something. Try to finish my work and then go out to socialize with my friends. Sport is very favorable.At least four evenings a week is very helpful in designing as well....

Harun Ayaydın, how do you keep up with latest design trends? to what extent do design trends matter? Harun Ayaydın : I catch up new trends with social media, magazines and travels....

Harun Ayaydın, how do you know if a product or project is well designed? how do you define good design?
Harun Ayaydın : As long as they are not copy, every project has good parts in itself. In fact, how people approach to an object or structure, the taste of design is always relative, everyone can enjoy different things.....

Harun Ayaydın, how do you decide if your design is ready?
Harun Ayaydın : First of all, missing things have to be completed in my mind, then, I show it to my close friends and finalize according to their opinions....

Harun Ayaydın, what is your biggest design work?
Harun Ayaydın : My biggest project. It is a sales office that I have designed in Riva region in Istanbul. The design of the building is derived from a leaf form with bio-mimicry design perception....

Harun Ayaydın : The culture I live is actually called as modern Turkish culture and I am very happy about it. The place I live in is a location where many civilizations have been hosted for centuries. I think my design works inherit a big part of Turkish culture and tradition....

Harun Ayaydın : My business philosophy based on mainly honesty and hard-work....

Harun Ayaydın, what are your philanthropic contributions to society as a designer, artist and architect?
Harun Ayaydın : I try to support people coming from lower socioeconomic background in terms of material and the spiritual side....

Harun Ayaydın : When it comes to the competitions I have attended during past years, I have met with many colleagues and they have become my friends and I have now more popularity in social media. I have seen different designs and designers and am very happy about it....

Harun Ayaydın : Currently I do not own a company. I’m continuing my Master degree and working some companies as assistant designer....

Harun Ayaydın : Every moment in our lives actually is a work of design. We make designs during the day intentionally or unintentionally. This process also can be described as making something out of nothing or shaping out of nothing....

Harun Ayaydın : I experienced infinite happiness and excitement. Up until today, when the buildings and interior places are completed that I have designed by myself, I got emotional and excited at every time....

Harun Ayaydın, what type of design work do you enjoy the most and why?
Harun Ayaydın : It is a question that is hard to answer. Because I do love and observe each design types separately but if I had to choose one of them, it will be the Art deco design type due to affiliation to my personality....
